TEST SYSTEM FOR SWITCHEST6-90
COMPLIANCE
It is constructed in compliance with CEI/IEC 61058-1 Edition 3.1 Switches for Appliances: Part 1: General Requirements UL 1054 – Standard for Special-Use Switches http://ulstandardsinfonet.ul.com/scopes/1054.html CSA 22.2 No. 55 Standard for Special-Use Switches https://www.csa-intl.org/onlinestore/GetCatalogItemDetails.asp?mat=2001411&Parent=1331 INTRODUCTION
The T6-90 is intended for testing the endurance of almost every type of switch with almost every type of actuation. The system was designed for simplicity of use, versatility, and high reliability of test results. For conducting the test are needed T6-90 TEST SYSTEM FOR SWITCHES, RESISTIVE LOADS (e.g. T6-50) for adjusting the current through tested switch and sometimes also INDUCTIVE LOADS (e.g. T6-60 or T6-64) in cases where standard requests testing with power factor (cos. Phi). T6-90 is so designed that it also enables tests with different make and break conditions (current, power factor). This test is complex and the person performing it should understand standard requests and the procedures described in the standards. We designed TEST SYSTEM FOR SWITCHES with the following goals:
MAIN FEATURES
Two-unit apparatus POWER/CONTROL UNIT is built in one industrial rack containing both, power supply and control module. It includes an industrial computer with a measurement and control unit. There is also a connection box, to which the samples and loads are connected.
Output power: 1x AC (0 - 130) V, 75 A, 50 (60) Hz (2x or 3x optional) 1x AC (0 - 300) V, 25 A, 50 (60) Hz (2x or 3x optional) 1x DC (0 – 300) V, 10 A (2x or 3x optional)
Measurement / control: integrated industrial personal computer plug-in Daq and DIO cards motion / drive controller signal conditional system MS Windows operating system custom design run-time measurement and control program
External commands (on front plate): on-off main power (test) on-off auxiliary power (computer, controls) test voltage range test voltage setting (manually) emergency stop switch
Outside controls: main power - light indicators auxiliary power - light indicators warning Test - On light
Power requirements: 230 V, up to 23 kVA, (27 kVA - 100 ms), 50 (60) Hz Overall dimensions (can depend of selected version) :
ACTUATING UNIT The actuating unit is a stand-alone unit with a mechanism which holds and actuates the switch. This mechanism is controlled by the computer program and is connected to POWER/CONTROL UNIT by cable.
The manipulator’s basic movement is angular (rotary), driven by precision stepper motor. By means of the included mechanical transmission module these motions can be transformed to linear to allow the testing of switches that request linear-movement actuation.
Protective chamber option: If requested, a protective chamber can be included at an additional charge. This would be needed if the customer planned to subject switches to high temperatures as part of the testing procedure and depends on which standards are being used.
Connection box simplifies the connections, improves clearness of the test circuit and enables short circuiting of A meter during the test. T6-50 (resistive load R), T6-60 or T6-64 (inductive load L), sample (DUT), V-meter and A-meter can be connected to it without connection problems (otherwise the person conducting the test usually has difficulties connecting (and attaching) the leads to T6-50, T6-60(64), sample, V-meter and A-meter). Connection box:
SOFTWARE Software works in Windows environment and enables setting and/or monitoring the following parameters: Setting Actuation angle and rotation speed (for rotary switches) Actuation distance and speed (for linear switches) Number of steps Make time Break time Voltage
Monitoring Make current Make power factor Break current Break power factor Test status All voltages and currents are displayed numerically and graphically, with auto range feature (or zoomed to selected size). All data is recorded and can later be reviewed/printed out. Picture below, shows the frame from testing 3 position switch with rotary actuation and different make and break current and power factor. LOADS
Resistance and inductive loads
LOADS are not included in the price and should be ordered separately (see separate product sheets). It is usually one or more T6-50 resistance batteries and inductive load (T6‑60, T6-64…). The T6-50 consists of 10x2 of manually adjustable resistors. By selecting appropriate connection and adjusting the resistors, current can be adjusted. The number and selection of loads depends on the ratings of samples and standards according to which the test will be performed.
Only the selection and adjustment of resistors/inductive loads shall be done manually. All other parameters are controlled and monitored by the computer. (More sophisticated loads can also be supplied if requested.)
